In the conclusion of Denise’s conversation with stroke survivor, Jennifer Kirchen, Jennifer talks about the type of stroke she suffered and shares a helpful hint for anyone that might be experiencing a stroke.
About Jennifer Kirchen: Jennifer is an eleven-year stroke survivor. In 2010, at the age of 36, Jennifer suffered a massive ischemic stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak initially. Her social work training and experience helped her recognize the signs of stroke, and she sought medical treatment immediately. Following her stroke and through her recovery journey, she has made it her mission to educate the community and support other stroke survivors and their families through facilitating support groups, fundraising, hospital peer visiting, media interviews and other speaking engagements. She aspires to be an inspiration to other stroke survivors with the motto, “I can do it.”
